School term time could be extended into the summer holidays. The Government is considering extending the summer term to allow pupils time to catch up with their education. The missed holiday time would then be added to the autumn and winter holidays instead. We asked our readers if they thought opening schools in the summer holidays was a good idea. Robert Green: “Teachers need a break too. They have been providing lessons both at school and online often working excess hours to ensure all pupils are given support.”
James Dobson: “No I do not think it is fair on the children. They be allowed to be children. They find it hard to study at home as it is and as a parent sitting down for most of the day helping them it is almost like being back at work while still looking after the other two as well. Everyone needs a break.”
