Downtown Tulsa Walking Tours Making Their Return

Downtown Tulsa Walking Tours Making Their Return After more than a year, Tulsa s downtown walking tours are making a return this weekend.  The Tulsa Foundation for Architecture is kicking off Second Saturday Tours with one called Tulsa Sound, happening in the Arts District. Organizers said there is so much interest in the return of these tours, they ve already sold out of tickets, but you can still join the waitlist. They said there is a good chance of getting in one of the tour groups.  Tulsa Sound tour groups will begin the two-hour walking tour at Cain s Ballroom. It s the first tour Tulsa s Foundation for Architecture has organized in 17 months.

She ll very much be in our hearts and on my mind that night, and probably every night, said friend and fellow folkie Sarah Morris, who is also scheduled to perform that night. An unrelated replacement act, Fires of Denmark, has been added to the bill.

Today is: National Pig Day Staff reports National Pig Day honors the domesticated pig. According to Mary Lynne Rave, who started National Pig Day with her sister Ellen Stanley in 1972, the purpose of the day is to accord to the pig its rightful, though generally unrecognized, place as one of man s most intellectual and domesticated animals. Events where pigs are the focus are held at zoos, schools, farms, sporting events, and nursing homes across the United States, particularly in the Midwest. Pig-themed parades also are common. Some have interpreted the day as being a time to give pigs a break by not eating pork products, but others say it is the perfect day for eating bacon, ham, or pork chops.

After being interrupted by the onset of COVID-19 cancellations and closures in 2020, Contemporary Art Month is returning for 2021 with pandemic safety in mind. On Friday, CAM hits the ground running with a drive-in event held in Artpace s parking lot. The annual CAM Kickoff will feature a screening of the 2021 CAM Perennial exhibition Here, the rivers run both ways and a live performance of Xavier Gilmore s AnOriginal Drive, a multidisciplinary work created in collaboration with Andrea Voca
