Findings revealed that the abductions were mostly carried out in the suburbs of the capital city.
Some of the freed hostages narrated their harrowing experiences in the hands of their abductors even as they claimed that they sold all their possessions to pay the ransom.
The latest kidnap incident happened a week ago at Tungan Maje, a suburb of Abuja, where a retired immigration officer and four other residents of the town were abducted and released two days after the ransom was paid.
It was gathered that ransom demanded by the kidnappers ran into hundreds of millions of naira in the period under review while undisclosed amounts have been paid to the bandits who abduct and hold their victims hostage in forests in neighbouring states of Niger, Kogi, Nasarawa and Kaduna.

An inlaw to Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, Chukwu Betherand, has been arrested and paraded as a kidnapper in Abuja, EParliament is reporting.
The arrest and parade of Betherand more popularly known as ‘Fish’ who is the younger brother to Ebonyi first lady, Rachel Umahi, reportedly came as a rude shock to the Ebonyi first family as they are beyond devastated at the unfortunate news.
The alleged kidnappers according to the Police, made use of the Ebonyi State Governor’s lodge in highbrow Maitama area of the Federal Capital Territory, as a hide out where their kidnapped victims were kept.

The Ebonyi State government on Wednesday reacted to the alleged use of its Abuja liaison office as a kidnap hideout by hoodlums suspected to hail from Uburu community, the hometown of Governor David Umahi.
Recall that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command arrested and paraded one Chukwu Betherand who was said to be the younger brother to Governor Umahi’s wife, Mrs. Rachel Umahi.
27 years old Chukwu Betherand was arrested and paraded alongside six others; Frank Uzor, 26, Nweke Uche, 19, Chester Uzor, 25, Chukwu Samuel 25, and Kelechi Ngene over alleged kidnapping.
The alleged kidnappers according to police sources were using the Ebonyi State Governor’s Lodge in the high brow Maitama area of Abuja as a hideout for keeping their kidnapped victims.
