Heres a look at the track of Hurricane Sandy. It will make its way on up toward the north, getting very close to the east coast and now for areas from the midatlantic through new england, thats where the track is even more to the west, as we head into tomorrow. Impact on midatlantic to new england sunday through monday, possibly even tuesday. Heres what we know now. Sandy moving more inland. A higher probability with it likely to see some Power Outages and flooding. Right now a moderate to high threat for areas of the midatlantic on up through new england. The thinking here is that this will be a destructive storm for some, with a lot of wind and a lot of rain. It will be in areas in the midatlantic and new england. Signs of sandy . Maybe on sunday. We have been saying the last couple days, sunday. Theres been a wide variety of potential land fall areas with this particular storm. So, we are getting, though, a much better view on a greater likelihood of where to make land fall. Its a ragged looking tropical system and swinging rain bands into florida. Sandy appears to be tracking to the north. Its interacting with the front, triggering rain in the midwest. Both of the systems come together and will rapidly intensify as it gets near the atlantic sea board. Winds of 80 Miles Per Hour tracking to the north today and northeast tomorrow. As we get into sunday, taking a turn to the north. Unfortunately, the latest trend is its going to come inland perhaps around delaware bay, passing just north of the washington metro area. Were seeing all the right ingredients to make it just that. Weve got a hurricane moving up the coast, possibly becoming a Tropical Storm by the time it gets near us. We have High Pressure up across new england that will block that storm and push it inland. Then weve got a weather front coming in from the west. All interacting, giving us a whole lot of rain throughout the area. The winds are at 75 miles per hour, sitting just off the coast of florida. Watch it as it makes its way northward. A category 1, perhaps even weakening before it makes landfall. So whats changed now from the last time we hit air, and from some of the new guidance that comes out, is the fact that its going to be lagging by about 12 hours. In the classroom today for the First Time Since the tragedy, but the focus was on something more important than any other school subject. For sandy hook survivors, its the first day in what will be a long and difficult journey. This part of that trip for many by bus to a new school in another town seven miles away. The kids all got off the bus, a lot of them were happy to see friends they hadnt seen in a while. Theyre excited about the new schools. Reporter almost three weeks after the attack, the old school where 20 students and 6 teachers were lost. Its tough to imagine what thats doing to them psychologically. Reporter even harder to understand what it might take to move on. Linda alvarez talked about that after taking her little girl back to school this morning.
