Posted On June 9, 2021 Fishing activity heated up in May, with a number of citation fish of various species caught by residents and registered in the Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament. According to the latest list in vasaltwaterjournal.com, these local anglers received citations: John Moore of Saluda, 46” black drum caught May 8 off Oyster on the Eastern Shore; Three blueline tilefish caught by Jason E. Hall of Mathews, Jonathan Dehoux of Mathews, and Carter Cooke of Hudgins, on May 15 at Norfolk Canyon. The fish weighed 16 pounds 6 ounces, 10 pounds six ounces, and 13 pounds nine ounces, respectively. Michael Mahler of Hayes caught a 73” shark on May 7 in Norfolk Canyon for a citation.

Williams catches citation speckled trout – Gazette Journal

Posted On December 30, 2020 Chris Williams of Hudgins has received a citation from the Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament for a 5-pound, 25-inch speckled trout caught on Nov. 28 in the Piankatank River. As the year winds down on the 2020 fishing tournament, which is operated through the Virginia Marine Resources Commission, there are a few local connections to leading entries. Keith Nuttall of Gloucester, who boated an 18-pound bluefish last winter at Triangle Wrecks, leads the entries for that species, and in fact has the only citation issued in 2020 for bluefish. The minimum citation weight is 16 pounds.The waters around York Spit Light produced the largest cobia to qualify for a citation in 2020. David Amorim of West Point caught the 94-pound, 8-ounce fish while casing lures.
