The pace and pressure to embrace value-based care are picking up. The COVID-19 pandemic exposed the risks and limitations of reliance on fee-for-service reimbursement and, combined with the groundbreaking changes in health care delivery models and regulatory flexibility, indicate a renewed focus on value-based care. This article outlines five of the top trends to watch for in value-based care for 2021.
1. Leaning In to Value-Based Care
One of the lessons from 2020 is that reliance on fee-for-service can leave providers vulnerable to volatility and changes in demand. As utilization plummeted during the COVID-19 pandemic, providers who had invested heavily in value-based care have been better able to weather the pandemic and the economic downturn by having a consistent source of revenue despite low utilization.

Since CT’s inception in the 1970s, radiologists and medical providers alike have witnessed the technology’s great benefits, including reducing the length of hospitalizations, improving cancer diagnosis and treatment, and determining when surgeries are needed. In 2021, the technology is being leveraged as part of the standard of care process for another important use case diagnosing COVID-19.

Comedian, actress, producer, podcaster and all-around hilarious performer Jessica Kirson has been involved in the entertainment business for as long as she can remember.
Over her career, she has created countless comedic character videos, which have racked up more than 30 million views on social media. She has appeared in movies and on TV and established herself as one of the top touring stand-up comics.
She hosts the “Relatively Sane” podcast and started a second one recently (“Disgusting Hawk”) that features the characters and funny voices she is infamous for. She has a prank album coming out with the a few of the character voices she does on “The Howard Stern Show.”

For three decades, Raul Malo has led the Grammy-winning The Mavericks, creating country alternative hits such as “Here Comes the Rain,” “What A Crying Shame” and “All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down.”
The band, which has reached the Billboard charts 14 times through the years, began playing punk clubs on Miami Beach in 1989 and released a self-titled album the following year.
Malo also has had a successful solo career and was part of the all-star Tex-Mex band Los Super Seven, He recorded an album of bluegrass music and created two high-selling cover albums.
