SALT LAKE CITY â Last week, a FOX 13 investigation revealed the Salt Lake City Police Department consistently arrives too slow to the most urgent 911 calls.
The Salt Lake City Council and Mayor s Office have now responded, signaling there is help on the way.
In an interview with FOX 13, SLC Mayor Erin Mendenhall said she was encouraged to see the latest average response times are not as bad as they were a few months ago.

SALT LAKE CITY â Utah law enforcement and activists are preparing for protests following a decision from the jury on the fate of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. He is facing second- and third-degree murder and manslaughter charges in the death of George Floyd.
âYou have to psychologically prepare yourself for any of it,â she said.
There will be protests no matter what, McDonald said.
The potential for civil unrest is on our radar, Sgt. Keith Horrocks with the Salt Lake City Police Dept. said. The department is prepared and watching, he said.
