Haverhill VFW Plans Free Pasta Night for Veterans and Their Families May 22

Veterans and their families in Haverhill are being treated to a free Pasta Night courtesy of Haverhill’s Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lorraine Post 29 as part of Military Appreciation Month. Pasta, being served with Maria’s Family Restaurant’s house tomato sauce, will be delivered to veterans Saturday, May 22, between 2 and 4 p.m. “May is Military Appreciation Month, and beyond placing flags at the graves of our fallen veterans, we as a Post also wanted to do something for the veterans here in town,” said Post 29 Senior Vice Commander Shawn Watkins.

Haverhill VFW and Coalition of Veterans Groups Deliver Cooked Easter Meals and Groceries

More than 250 Easter meals were delivered to veterans and their families this weekend by a coalition led by Haverhill’s Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lorraine Post 29. Free meals of baked ham, mac and cheese and green beans were packaged in microwavable containers and delivered Saturday in time to be reheated for Easter Sunday, according to the VFW. The dinners were delivered to veterans and their families who registered in advance. Besides the VFW, assistance was provided by members of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 20, AMVETS Post 147, Marine Corps League, American Legion Post 4 and the Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 294. Easter cards were donated by students of Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School and local businesses such as Peddler’s Daughter, whose employees assisted with deliveries.

VFW Lorraine Post 29 Offers Veterans and Families Free Easter Dinner; Call by April 1

Veterans and their families in Haverhill are being treated to a free Easter ham dinner courtesy of Haverhill’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Lorraine Post 29. All meals will be prepared and delivered on Saturday, April 3, and will just need to be reheated on Easter Sunday, April 4. “While we wait for things to get better, we want the Veterans of Haverhill to know we are here for them and we care about them. To us, these veterans are our family,” said Post 29 Senior Vice Commander Shawn Watkins. Watkins said last year’s two VFW meal deliveries served more than 800 meals combined and have proven to be a great way to stay connected with veterans in Haverhill during the pandemic
