AUSTIN, Texas (KLTV) - An East Texas state representativeâs legislation to expedite the process by which dead Texans are purged from voter registration rolls has been approved in the Texas Senate.
HB 1264, authored by Rep. Keith Bell (R-Forney) was considered by the Senate on Wednesday. They passed the bill on a 30-1 vote. Sen. Nathan Johnson (D-Dallas) cast the lone nay vote.
Under current law, there is no specified amount of time between a personâs death and when a registrar is required to remove their name from voter rolls.

HB 1264, authored by Rep. Keith Bell (R-Forney) was considered by the Senate Committee on State Affairs on Thursday. The passed the bill on a 7-0 vote and will be placed on the uncontested calendar for the Senate, mean it can be voted on without discussion.

AUSTIN, Texas (KLTV) - A Texas House committee has approved the designation of a Henderson County highway in memory of two deputies killed in action.
The Texas House Committee on Transportation voted unanimously for House Bill 1321, authored by Keith Bell (R-Forney).
The bill designates a portion of State Highway 198 as “The Deputy Sheriff Tony Ogburn and Deputy Sheriff Paul Habelt Memorial Highway.” Ogburn and Habelt were killed in the line of duty in 2008.
