rape investigations. good evening, thanks for joining us, i m adam may. a startling investigation, baltimore police label more rapes as false and baseless than any other state in the country. dereck valcourt has the report. reporter: the report reveals an unusual high number of rape complaints in baltimore city end up getting thrown out by the detectives investigating. front page news for our media partner the baltimore sun, their investigation finds in baltimore, more rape cases are labeled unfounded than any other city in the country. alarming to victims advocates. is there a better way to categorize these cases and these crimes and rather than just list them as unfounded. maybe there s another reason that a victim may want to go forward at a later time. reporter: statistics show that in the last recent years there s been a number of drop in rape cases reported. 684 rapes reported to the fbi in 1995, but last year s 158 reported rapes means an 84% decline. jack young
