A party celebrating passage of laws educating judges on the dangers of domestic and intimate partner violence was hosted by politicians and supporters in Burlington, Ont.
Ontario introduced legislation that will see provincially appointed judges and justices receive education and training on intimate partner violence and coercive control.
The bill was named after Keira Kagan, a four-year-old girl who was found dead with her father at the bottom of a cliff in what is believed to be a case of a murder-suicide.
Keira’s Law was tabled in 2022 seeking to protect children involved in custody litigation following the tragic death of a four-year-old in Milton, Ont.
