1/1 The owners of Bradford’s iconic Midland Hotel have been fined £24,000 after admitting a number of health and safety charges, including that they failed to act fast enough to deal with asbestos in the building. But Peel Hotels was told that it would have been fined “a six figure sum” had the company, and the hospitality industry in general, not been left in such a perilous financial situation due to the Covid 19 pandemic. The national hotel chain appeared at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning charged with four offences relating to asbestos and health and safety failings. The issues had been reported to Bradford Council’s Environmental Health department by Gary Peacock, former manager of the hotel, shortly after he resigned from his role in 2018.

The rear yard of the property on Arncliffe Terrace A WOMAN has been ordered to pay out over £2,000 after she failed to clear a mountain of waste from outside her Lidget Green home.
Bradford Council had received numerous complaints about an ever growing pile of waste in the rear yard of a terraced house on Arncliffe Terrace late last year. There were also reports that waste was being burned on the yard, which backs onto an alleyway.
Bradford Magistrates Court A BALD tyre led to a Bradford cabbie appearing in court this week. Wasim Hussain s vehicle had been spotted by wardens on Clarence Road in Saltaire on September 29 2019, and when they inspected it they found that the front near-side wheel was so worn down that it s cord was exposed. The vehicle was displaying Tyersal Private Hire signage. He was questioned, and told officers he had needed a spare tyre, but hadn t checked the condition of the spare before he fixed it on the car. Hussain, 40, of Rufford Street, Bradford, was charged with the use of motor vehicle / trailer with tyre with any of the ply / cord exposed, and appeared in Bradford and Keighley Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
