A WARNING has been issued to householders following a kitchen fire late this afternoon. Firefighters were called out to tackle a chip pan blaze in Golden View Drive, Thwaites Brow, Keighley, shortly after 5.15pm. They wore breathing apparatus and used a hose reel jet to bring the fire under control. The female occupant of the semi-detached property escaped unhurt. Fire damage was restricted to the kitchen, but the rest of the ground floor was smoke damaged. Watch commander Jon Macdonald, of Keighley Fire Station, said: We recommend that people use deep fat fryers rather than chip pans. However, if you have to use a chip pan, please ensure you do not fill it more than one third full of oil and never leave it unattended.
