Strong performances turned in at Star Trackers Meet Wendell Miller and Tarajh Hudson.
The CARIFTA Games have been canceled for a second consecutive year, but that did not stop athletes from coming out to perform at the 18th Star Performers Track Classic 2021 at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium this past Saturday.
One of those athletes was Swift Athletics under-20 boys competitor Wendell Miller. He ran personal best times in the 200 and 400 meters (m) races.
In the under-20 boys 400m, Miller ran his way to a time of 46.33 seconds to come away with the win. That time qualified him for the NACAC (North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association) Under 18 and Under 23 Championships, set for July 9-11 in San Jose, Costa Rica.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS The University of The Bahamas (UB) Mingoes multi-event specialist Kendrick Thompson shattered the national record in the open men’s decathlon at the BAAA Easter Classic over the weekend at The Thomas A Robinson National Stadium.

Thompson amassed 7,644 points to eclipse the national record set by Ken Munnings (7,555 Lima, Peru, 2019). The performance was also a UB record.

Under the theme: “Track is Back,” the Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations hosted its first track and field meet since the coronavirus pandemic broke out in March.
The BAAA, in closing out what has been a dramatic year of postponements and cancellations of various local and international sporting events, staged the Odd Distance Track and Field Meet at the Thomas A Robinson National Stadium on Saturday.
“We’ve been planning for the COVID-19 environment since the lockdown and we recognised very early that certain things had to be in place,” said BAAA president Drumeco Archer. “We’ve been in communication with the Competent Authority, giving them the assurance that we could do this and we could do this well.”
