Fayose
Ekiti is on the march again as politicians are preparing for the 2022 governorship poll. Although aspirants are still keeping their aspirations to their chests, especially in the ruling All Progressives Party (APC), the former governor Segun Oni, has expressed his resolve to take another shot at the Oke Ayoba Government House. He made the declaration when he returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he left in 2014 due to what seemed irreconcilable differences between him and ex-governor Ayodele Fayose last year.
That peace has continued to elude the Ekiti State chapter of the PDP is due to the struggle for the soul and structure of the party. The crisis first reared its ugly head in 2017, when the party could not conduct free and fair primary election because of vested interests exhibited by the then governor Fayose, who exerted his influence to pick the candidate. This led to the exit of leaders from the party who could not stomach the insult and meddlesomeness

The feud between Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and a former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, over the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South-West has caused division among the state chairmen and other top party chieftains in the region.
Fayose and Makinde have reportedly been at loggerheads over the latter’s role in the Ekiti PDP crisis as well as the leadership of the party in the South-West.
The strife, which has lingered for some months, had even recently seen the aides of the two engaging in a war of words on social media.

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State under the Chairmanship of Hon. Kehinde Odebunmi has dissociated the party from the statement credited to the former Governor Ayo Fayose’s faction, attacking Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
The party expressed displeasure over what it described as destabilisation tendencies of the former Governor, saying it was necessary for Fayose to acknowledge the fact that the party is not his private business where he gives orders to the Party’s Exco to attack his perceived enemies.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Sanya Adesua, said the party, which has only one sitting Governor out of the six states in the zone, could no longer afford the destabilisation engagements among its members, orchestrated by individuals who assume ownership of the party.
