SINGAPORE - Ground-up efforts by Singaporeans in the past year - cooking meals for the needy and translating vital Covid-19 updates for others, and more - exemplified Total Defence efforts that will help Singapore overcome and emerge stronger from the pandemic, said Senior Minister of State for Defence Zaqy Mohamad on Monday (Feb 15).
Speaking at the Total Defence Day 2021 commemoration event at the Singapore Discovery Centre, Mr Zaqy highlighted the importance of Singapore s national defence framework of Total Defence.
He said everyone in the country has played a part in containing the outbreak of the virus here and helping others.
Total Defence: Animation students hope to inspire others to donate blood
SINGAPORE Through their 30-second animation of red blood cells working at a blood bank, four animation students from Nanyang Polytechnic who took part in an annual competition hope to inspire Singaporeans to do their part for Total Defence by donating blood if they are eligible to do so.
Sakura Wong Mei Ying, Karis Lee Si En, Zhang Xiaoxin, and Eunice Koo Li Wei, all 18, are part of Team Changi Airport, which is one of nine teams shortlisted in the youth category of the annual N.E.mation! competition, organised by the Ministry of Defence’s Nexus office, which promotes national education.
SINGAPORE - The Covid-19 pandemic was a key issue tackled by teams in this year s N.E.mation! competition.
The annual contest sees students and youth produce short animation clips to express their views on total defence.
Of the 1,064 submissions for the student and youth categories this year, 70 per cent highlighted how Singaporeans could apply the concept of total defence during the pandemic.
Themed Together We Keep Singapore Strong , the 15th edition of the annual competition moved online this year due to Covid-19.
Teams in the youth category produced animation clips with online mentoring from industry partners. The mentors include Lucasfilm, the production firm behind the Star Wars franchise, and Singapore Press Holdings content marketing agency Sweet.
