Two lizard species discovered in Siem Reap’s Phnom Kulen Park

Two unknown species of lizard were discovered in Kbal Spean, an Angkorian era archaeological site within the Phnom Kulen National Park, in Siem Reap province’s Banteay Srei district. They have been named calotes goetzi and the bent-toed gecko.
The Angkor Centre for Conservation of Biodiversity (ACCB) said in a recent Facebook post that ACCB was assisted in field studies leading to the discovery of a new type of agamid lizard the calotes goetzi. This species is distributed over a large area including Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand.

More than 100 units of unexploded ordnances (UXO) were found by villagers in two districts and handed over to the Battambang provincial authorities for further action.
In Koas Krala district, police chief Pang Hieng said on April 30 that a farmer in Chhnal Moan commune s Prey Toteung village found the UXO at two different locations while ploughing his farmland and then reported it to local authorities.
“At both locations, there were 94 UXO units, around 70 per cent of which have degraded as they are remnants of war,” Hieng said.

Banteay Meanchey provincial criminal police are searching for a man suspected of raping and killing a woman in a rented room in Kbal Spean 1 village, Poipet commune and town, Banteay Meanchey province on March 2.
Provincial Police Chief Sith Los told The Post on March 3 that 23-year-old Huon Srey was found dead in her room with her throat cut, but authorities don’t know the motive for the murder.
