Persistent attacks driving Borno residents to Yobe – Police

Punch Newspapers Sections Kayode Idowu, Damaturu THE incessant terrorist attacks in Borno State have forced residents of four local government areas in the state to flee to communities in Yobe State, the police stated on Thursday. The local governments, according to Yobe State Police Command, are Gubio, Magumeri, Kaga and Konduga.  A statement on Thursday by Dungus Abdulkarim, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, said large movement of migrants from Gubio, Magumeri, Kaga and Konduga local government areas of Borno State into Yobe State have been observed. He said, “They are believed to have relocated from their ancestral homes due to incessant attacks by gunmen terrorising their communities while in search of food items and other valuables.”

Kwaya-Bura’s sacking was earlier announced in a statement by the Special Adviser on Public Relations and Strategy, Malam Isa Gusau. It reads partly, “The Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, has relieved the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Salihu Kwayabura, of his position.” Gusau had said the directive was part of necessary measures to reposition the ministry of health and named Prof. Isa Marte, as replacement. Punch Newspapers Sections Kayode Idowu, Damaturu Residents of Damaturu, the Yobe State capital woke up on Sunday to see many of the structures in the town defaced with the poster of the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello for president in 2023. The poster advertising Yahaya to take over from Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 were seen in various parts of the Damatutu metropolis, including parts of the street leading to the Government House and the big roundabout along Potiskum road. The posters were also posted on every known structure on Gashua and Gujba roads. Other areas included the Pilgrim Commission roundabout, Maiduguri bypass and House of Assembly Road roundabout.
