PHILADELPHIA Lauren Power only needed four letters to sum up her team Friday night. The Germantown Academy girls’ basketball coach didn’t need more than that, although it would have been warranted after the game the Patriots had with host Penn Charter. There was a lot on the line Friday and both teams certainly played like it. Isabella Casey’s free throw with 0.5 left gave GA a 63-62 win over Penn Charter, clinching at least a share of the Inter-Ac League title.
Prior to last Thursday s encounter, defending Inter-Ac champ PC had lost its 2024 league opener to the Academy of Notre Dame (62-55), and then, after some soul-searching, the Quakers had come back to deliver a beating to perennial Philadelphia Catholic League power Archbishop Wood (47-33).
Penn Charter won just three events last Saturday when it hosted the Inter-Ac track and field championships, but the versatility and depth of the Quakers girls allowed them to win the team title.
