A car driven by Karl Crute, 79, of Cushing collided with a car driven by Kaylee Knight, 18, of Chesterville in Sandy River Plantation, police said. The crash killed two passengers in Knight’s car, police said. They were Thomas Deckard-Madore, 17, of Strong and Michaela Morgan, 15, of Phillips.

Two teenagers died Monday night in a crash in Sandy River Plantation that injured three other people. Thomas Deckard-Madore, 17, of Strong and Michaela Morgan, 15, of Phillips were killed in the crash at 8:45 p.m. on Route 4 in Sandy River Planation, according to Maine State Police. The teens were passengers in a car driven by Kaylee Knight, 18, of Chesterville. Knight’s Pontiac and a Toyota driven by 79-year-old Karl Chute of Cushing were traveling in opposite directions in the Franklin County town when they collided, according to police.

At the same time, a car driven and occupied by Kaylee Knight, 18, of Chesterville and four teenage passengers was traveling south. The two vehicles collided and as a result, two of the passengers in the vehicle driven by Knight were killed:

Karl Crute and his wife Laraine Crute, 79, remained hospitalized with serious injuries on Tuesday, police said. Maine State Police said they were still investigating the cause of the crash.
