With Katie Ledecky almost a lock to secure her 4th straight Olympic berth in the 800 freestyle, there's a battle brewing for the second spot on the roster.
The youngest boy to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Trials was Santa Clara Swim Club 14-year-old Shareef Elaydi, who's seeded 51st in the 200 fly (2:00.38).
That swim was only 0.02 seconds off Shackell's lifetime best that she swam in March. She already swam a personal best in the 100 fly earlier in the meet.
