Stuff has obtained, under the Official Information Act, internal documents detailing how the case involving CJ and his family was handled. The heavily-redacted documents show OT’s history with CJ began on April 10, 2018 – several months before he was born after a “report of concern” was received. On June 6, 2019, when CJ was 8 months old, OT received another report of concern. The reasons are redacted, but relate to the day-to-day care of the children in Sinclair s home. Sinclair took over custody of his son from March 2019. Greymouth police were asked gather further information in order to decide whether a social worker would be allocated to assess the risk of harm to the children. This was received on June 10.
