Father charged with murder after 9-month-old son s overdose

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â A man was indicted on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse in his 9-month-old son s overdose death.
In October 2019, 9-month-old Kayden Goldthreate overdosed on fentanyl, according to Metro Nashville Police. And on Thursday, a grand jury indicted his father, 36-year-old Phuoc Tommy Nguyen, on the charges
Police found that Nguyen was a heroin user and that the child ingested heroin/fentanyl while in his custody at a residence on Willow Branch Drive. Doctors at Monroe Carell Jr. Children s Hospital at Vanderbilt also found Kayden to be suffering from head injuries. An autopsy determined Kaydenâs cause of death to be acute fentanyl toxicity.
