U.S. law firm Mayer Brown has continued to make inroads into Singapore after entering a joint law venture (JLV) with PK Wong & Nair, a local law firm specialising in cross-border transactions and disputes.
Mayer Brown has hired international arbitration expert Kay-Jannes Wegner as a partner in its litigation & dispute resolution practice in Singapore from Korea’s largest law firm, Kim & Chang. Wegner will relocate from Seoul.
From 4 May 2022, for the first time in Singapore, lawyers and their clients are legally permitted to enter into conditional fee agreements (CFAs) in relation to arbitrations and certain court proceedings.
