The Karen National Union’s Brigade 4 clashed with the Kaw Thoo Lei Army in Tanintharyi Region, following months of rising tension between the two groups.
A monk was killed and three other monks were seriously injured when an artillery shell landed on Shwe Kyat Min Monastery in Karen State’s Kawkareik Township at about 10:00 a.m. on 26 December.
On 16 December at 5:30 am, the Lion Battalion Commando-strategy column (Kaw Thoo Lei Army), Karen National Liberation Army, and affiliated resistance forces attacked Military Council troops stationed in Ngartaing power station in Kyondoe town, Kawkareik District, in the Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade (6) controlled area.
