It should come as no surprise that stargazing is a favorite past-time in Space City, and 45 miles from the bright lights of the Bayou Cityâs skyline, the Houston Museum of Natural Scienceâs historic George Observatory in Brazos Bend State Park offers a view of the night sky Houstonians just canât get from their backyards these days. Â
But since 2019, the historic observatory, like the stars themselves, has been just out of reach while the facility underwent an extreme makeover. Luckily, that wait ended last month when the Georgeâas itâs lovingly referred to by local amateur astronomersâwelcomed guests for the first time in two years.
