politico. first of all, jake, just your general sense there on the hill, is this pretty much a done deal now, kavanaugh s confirmation? reporter: it s far beyond it for me to say that. obviously the eyes are on flake, collins, and murkowski. they have, the last i checked before i came up here, collins was in the briefing room let me cut you off for a second, senator lindsey graham speaking fr speak ing with kasie hunt here. made sense to me. it s a complete report. it s a background check. i m confident the fbi did a good job. they were not hindered in any way. the focus of the background check was on credible allegations before the committee. i was looking for certain things to be answered by witnesses. i m more confident than ever that what the committee found has held up and then some. the main thing for me is that
relates to kavanaugh, so again, no corroboration whatsoever. i mean, even the people that they ve alluded to to corroborate their stories deny that they have any knowledge of this depending on who the persons we persons were. reporter: one other interesting note from corker. corker is somebody who had been saying over the the last couple of days that he thought some version of whatever the fbi produced should be made public. i asked him now having seen the fbi s work products does he still believe there should be some kind of public summary, and he said yes. in fact, he does. he says there s nothing in there that in and of itself that would prevent this from being released and he would like to see this be released in public in part, at least to settle what he alluded to there, which is the back and forth we expect to see once democrats finish reviewing the fbi report in another hour or so, craig. garrett haake on the hill for us. thank you.
fbi, i do want both for the integrity of the bureau but also privacy of the individual, i don t think dumping data in the public s lap is a good idea. should the public know what s in the report? absolutely. there s been a question, right? are we going to see leaks from this report as senators now look at this? some of their staffers look at this as well? it s not even a question. of course we re going to see leak leaks. that s literally our jobs. what are you hearing so far? if you get out ahead of things, if you know it s going to leak, put your version out before someone gets to make the narrative. the white house, very confident today. i think even before this investigation came back, they were confident. they knew that they have the ability and the senate had the
fears have been realized. second, i disagree having received this a briefing on all of the documents i disagree with senator grassley s statement that there was no hint of misconduct. and third, we are reiterating our call given how limited this these documents were and how limited the scope of this investigation was, we are reiterating our call that the documents with proper redaction be made public. why shouldn t all of america see the facts? and second, we are reiterating our call to make the directive that the white house and council mcgahn sent to the fbi public because we believe it greatly constrained the investigation
because it just, you know, validates the fact that there s no corroboration with what allegations have been presented. do you think this will make people more comfortable with voting for judge kavanaugh? do you think this will make people in the country more comfortable if he gets confirmed with him being on the bench? well, i would hope so. you ll have a whole new crop of folks in an hour who are down there right now, the other side of the aisle is being shared the same information, and my guess is just based on the way this has gone is they will come out with a very different, you know, feeling about what s occurred. but i think people left there very upbeat, and people understand that the fbi was not, you know, hindered in their investigation, that it was thorough. there s 46 pages of testimony or interviews, and you know, there were 146 people that have been interviewed over time as it
