senator graham did say he was probably going to continue to vote for kavanaugh unless there was some new lackluster allegation that comes up. right, they were all going kristin: let me ask you all, is anything judge kavanaugh can do or say that could really impact how republicans on the committee vote? jennifer? we have not had a chance to hear from judge kavanaugh at all. and i think as you will recall back in the clarence thomas hearings, when justice thomas came in and defended himself before the senate and before the people of the united states of america, people saw a man who they believed felt had been wrongly accused. and that turned things for him when people had a chance to see his emotional reaction. and so that may be the case here. kristin: and faiza patel, to you, anything that kavanaugh can say? i think was interesting is how hard he and his allies are
handle it. think is been pretty restrained by the president s, he s been fairly subdued but absolutely. i believe this is the judiciary committee question. let s let the judiciary committee handle it. i believe that this entire thing has been nothing more than a political sideshow and an attempt to stop the good justice from being confirmed. i think the judiciary committee will see that and judge kavanaugh will be confirmed. i think we can move forward. but the president would be well served to try and stay on the sidelines, let the senate do its job and i think ultimately kavanaugh will be confirmed. leland: robert, you have democratic senator saying i believe somebody even before they have heard the testimony. well, we went through generations where women were not believed. where women were questions continuously. so to now have the pendulum swing even slightly this seems to be a shock to the nation. leland: robert, year defense attorney. you live by the idea that
hearing will determine that. but it is not a case where he has to be proven guilty by or beyond a reasonable doubt. leland: what should be the standard then? is it, someone makes an accusation? you have four people allegedly at the incident. saying they have no memory of it. so when accusation is enough to sink someone s career? standard is what the judgment of the senators might be when considering a lifetime appointment. i guess i would ask senators to do is withhold any judgment on the question until the testimony occurs. and if they in their judgment, determine that her argument is more credible than his leland: there s already been a lot of democratic senators essay i believe her. i believe her. it doesn t sound like withholding judgment to me. i think for the most part those i ve decided they believe her, already had determined they were not going to vote for judge kavanaugh.
