Meikayla Moore up for FA Women s Championship Player of the Month
Andy Kelly Liverpool FC Women defender Meikayla Moore has been nominated for FA Women s Championship Player of the Month.
The centre-back helped the Reds keep two clean sheets in their two league games during April and weighed in with a headed goal herself in the 2-0 win against Lewes Women.
Moore, 24, is now firmly established at the heart of an LFC Women defence that conceded just 15 league goals all season – the joint-lowest in the division.

The New Zealander is hoping to follow in the footsteps of her captain Niamh Fahey, who was named the Player of the Month for March.
Durham Women ended the Championship season in style as they defeated Coventry United 7-1, with Beth Hepple and Lily Crosthwaite running riot to seal second place in the league.
It took just three minutes for Durham to claim first blood as Kathryn Hill lost her marker to volley in Beth Hepple’s looping corner.
Durham doubled their lead three minutes later when Lily Crosthwaite burst between two defenders and drilled a low ball across the area for Molly Sharpe to place beyond goalkeeper Sue Wood.
Eight minutes in, Coventry grabbed their only goal of the game, as Destiney Toussaint danced between challenges in the box to squeeze a shot under Megan Borthwick from point-blank range.

Lewes defeated FA Women’s Championship winners Leicester City, while keeper Rylee Foster was Liverpool’s hero.

Fifth-placed Lewes sent promoted Leicester City to a second league loss of the campaign.
Ini Umotong got the only goal from the spot in the first half, after Lucy Ashworth-Clifford was brought down in the box.
The Foxes piled pressure on the Rooks but were unable to find an equaliser.
