Canoe resident Katy Ackerman was nominated for the prize, awarded for the third year by Kal Tire, Braby Motors, Fix Auto Collision and SASCU Financial Group. “It couldn’t go to a better person,” Kathy Forsyth, Ackerman s nominator and friend, said in a media release. “She’s amazingly kind, compassionate, and generous, even though she herself doesn’t have much.” Ackerman and her children Ella, 4, and Emery, 2, were presented with a refurbished 2015 Chrysler 200 including winter and summer tires, $1,500 in vehicle insurance, plus fuel cards and other gifts, Dec. 18.
