More than 300 schoolboys abducted last week by armed men in northwest Nigeria have been released, a government official said Thursday.
In an announcement on Nigerian state TV, NTA, Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari said the 344 boarding school students were turned over to security officials and were being brought to the state capital, where they will get physical examinations before being reunited with their families. I think we can say . we have recovered most of the boys, if not all of them, Masari said. He did not disclose if the government paid any ransom.

Bandits who kidnapped hundreds of Government Science Secondary School pupils in Kankara, Katsina State at the weekend have established contact and commenced discussions, presidency said Monday night.
Making this disclosure in a statement, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, said Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari told President Muhammadu Buhari Monday that steady progress was being made to bring out the pupils unharmed.
Shehu quoted Masari as saying, “We are making progress and the outlook is positive,” after holding an hour meeting with Buhari.
The statement said the governor, who was accompanied by his deputy, Manir Yakubu, said aside establishing contact, discussions with the kidnappers centre on the safe return of the pupils to their various homes.
