The Indiana Department of Transportation will close SR-44 in Franklin for a few weeks this summer, sending travelers on a detour route through Shelby County. The project will replace a culvert on SR-44 in Franklin and is expected to take a couple of weeks. The commissioners approved the following detour route: 900 West to Range Road, Range Road to 875 West, 875 West to 50 North, and 50 North “back to Johnson County,” said Highway Superintendent Kem Anderson. Following the culvert’s completion, INDOT will fill potholes on SR-44 from I-65 to Miller Ave. Anderson also reported that the project to replace the culvert on 375 East started on Thursday. The road will be closed for the duration of the project.
