Tobias Merriweather came out to Wednesday’s 4A/3A Greater St. Helens League Invitational track and field meet with the goal of hitting some specific times in the 100 and 200 meters.
Katie Peneueta hit six 3-pointers four in the first quarter to lead the Heritage girls basketball team to a 72-46 win over shorthanded Skyview in 4A/3A Greater St. Helens League play on Friday.

Hayden Rose scored a game-high 26 points as the Prairie boys basketball team held on for a 55-49 victory at Battle Ground on Thursday.
Battle Ground’s Kaden Perry scored just nine points and did not play in the second half.
Rose scored 11 points in Prairie’s 23-point third quarter to help the Falcons to a 47-42 lead. Korey Terrell had 14 points with four 3-pointers for the Falcons.
Tait Spencer led Battle Ground with 19 points.
Boys basketball
HERITAGE 82, MOUNTAIN VIEW 67 Jayden Cardiel scored 30 points and Quincy Caston added 11 points, eight rebounds and nine assists as the Timberwolves got their first win.
Prep highlights: River softball edges Hockinson to stay atop 2A GSHL

Taylor McRae’s solo home run in the bottom of the sixth was the game-winner as Columbia River edged Hockinson 9-8 to stay undefeated.
McRae’s one-out shot to center field broke an 8-8 tie and allowed the Rapids (10-1, 5-0) to remain atop the 2A Greater St. Helens League.
Gabby Ventura went 2 for 4, scored twice and had two doubles as River’s leadoff hitter. Halley Jordan went 3 for 4 with two RBI.
The Rapids have three games remaining, including a season-ending showdown against 4-0 Ridgefield on Saturday.
