Gnomes for Homes: Kittery family s handmade creations fight homelessness Gnome-making.  They ve been cutting beards, stuffing hats, hot-gluing perfectly circular wooden noses, and buying 60 pounds of rice at a time to fill the socks that ultimately become the gnomes bodies.  When the creative process – which takes place mostly on the floor of their home for two-to-three hours at a time – is finished, each gnome receives a personalized name tag. And it s all for a good cause.  Together with their mom Katie Guay, the family has launched a Gnomes for Homes campaign to benefit Kittery-based nonprofit Fair Tide Housing, its mission being to reduce homelessness through housing and supportive services for individuals and families on the Seacoast.
