The thought of spending a couple of hours in a Zoom class sounded unappealing. But this was a treat: Katie Caldesi’s cook-a-long was interactive, fun, instructive, and left me not zombie-like but inspired to up my game in my lockdown kitchen. Katie and her husband Giancarlo run Cucina Caldesi as well as their Italian restaurants in Bray and Marylebone, writing cookbooks and appearing on the occasional TV show. She and guest chefs usually teach classes in person at her Gerrards Cross home or at their cookery schools in Marylebone and Bray. Lockdown sees her bringing us the next best thing: watch her in her kitchen at Gerrards Cross cooking each step on screen, while doing the same in your own space.
