The Jamestown Sun received 47 awards in the annual Better North Dakota Newspaper Contest, announced by the North Dakota Newspaper Association in a virtual presentation Friday.
The news, photo and advertising awards were for work done in 2020.
The Sun competes in the small multi-day publication category along with Devils Lake, Dickinson, Wahpeton, Williston and Valley City.

The Sun received third place in General Excellence in its circulation category. The award covers all aspects of each newspaper, including its news and feature stories, photography, advertising, graphic design and headlines, according to NDNA.

The Bison 6 Cinema, like other small businesses, has been forced to find creative ways to get sales since the coronavirus pandemic began. But Cory Keim, general manager, remains optimistic about the industry’s future despite a dramatic drop in business this year.
“I do believe it will be big again,” he said. “People will go out, they will go to the movies. There will be the big blockbuster movies and they’ll be exclusive to the theaters only and then they’ll go to streaming and other options, I guess.”
