As Mother’s Day loomed, a poignant presentation lined a fence surrounding Southside Park in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood Monday, honoring local victims of gun violence; it’s called “SHOT: We the Mothers Miami.”
The “57 Blocks Project” wants to create positive change in neighborhoods most impacted by violence. There are already dozens of nonprofits working in these areas.
Across from Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, mothers of those lost to gun violence surround Saunders Park in a photo essay by photographer Kathy Shorr for Mural Arts.
Mural Arts Philadelphia in collaboration with SWTP produced an art exhibition of 30 large portraits of mothers who have lost their children to gun violence.
