A community-based COVID-19 vaccination clinic opened in the Siinto S. Wessman arena at the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Tuesday, April 13.

Registration is Now Open for the New Community-Based Clinic in Superior; Vaccinations Eligible for Residents 16+

SUPERIOR, Wis. – 64 percent of residents living in Douglas County have not been vaccinated against COVID-19.
That’s why health officials in the county can’t wait for shots to start being administered into arms Tuesday, April 13th.
The fifth community-based vaccination site will be located on the campus of UWS inside Wessman Arena.
Appointments are now open, with the Pfizer vaccinations beginning Tuesday.
Douglas County Health Officer, Kathy Ronchi, says the site will begin vaccinating about 200people per day, with the hope of completing 500 inoculations per day once things get going.

With each passing day of the pandemic, more and more pictures of COVID-19 vaccination record cards circulate online from people who are happy to have received their first and final shots.
But, as vaccination efforts continue to ramp up, questions surrounding residency requirements are also circulating.
A big question for many is whether they have to live in the state they receive their vaccine in.

In Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin, the answer is no.
In Minnesota, there are no residency requirements to get the vaccine, so those studying or working in Minnesota are eligible.
In Michigan, a similar scenario is playing out. Their department of health said that although they are prioritizing residents of Michigan, no shot in any arm is wasted. Therefore, they will vaccinate students, workers and so on.

A COVID-19 vaccine clinic will open at the Siinto S. Wessman Arena on the University of Wisconsin-Superior campus Tuesday, April 13. The clinic, run by AMI Expeditionary Healthcare, will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The site will administer the Pfizer vaccine.
Anyone ages 16 and older can schedule an appointment using the Wisconsin COVID-19 Vaccine Registry. Eligible individuals will be notified when openings become available. The site is expected to administer at least 200 doses per day, with the ability to provide up to 500 doses per day, depending on vaccine supply.
