On mask shaming
The CDC announced new mask protocols. You can avoid mask wearing if you are vaccinated. The key is vaccinated. However, here in Riverside County, we did not even qualify to go from the Orange Tier to the Yellow Tier.
Recently, I’ve been mask shamed for wearing my mask at an event that was not following the county tier guidelines. “Because Covid is over.”
I had another exchange on social media that one person feels it’s a violation of privacy to ask at such an event if someone is vaccinated. Churches and business groups have different rules for attendance and mask wearing. Organizers paid no attention. Perhaps it was not painful enough to have our local businesses shuttered or limited for the last 15 months. Forget that a mask is a simple way to keep safe.
