Plans to repurpose the Marysville Museum building into a four-unit micro hotel are moving forward. In the upcoming fiscal year's budget, the City of Marysville plans to provide up to $250,0000 towards renovations of the building that once served as city hall. "We didn't want to just get rid of (the building) if someone had a purpose for it," said Mayor Kathy Hayman. "It's been sitting empty for many, many years. the city couldn't justify putting that much money into it for it to sit vacant." Marysville has entered into an agreement with contractor Korey Eagen to remodel the building, with the city retaining ownership and taking a share of the profits. Marysville City Council will vote on the upcoming fiscal year's budget on Monday the 22nd.
The City of Marysville will soon have a new councilmember. Harry "Duke" Dunn has been tapped to fulfil the remainder of Kathy Hayman's city council term after she was elected mayor last month. Dunn spoke to WPHM after Monday's Marysville City Council meeting about his priorities for the council, which include seeing through a band shell project in Marysville Park. "That was something I was involved in at county level to get some ARPA money to the city to help with that, so I'm looking forward to get going on that" said Dunn. He also mentioned a controversial extension of the Bride to Bay trail along a city owned right of way along River Road. "There was discussion about the bike path. they have legitimate concerns, and I want to hear them out.
