ALGONA Mayor Rick Murphy inducted the newly elected council members before the first meeting of the year on January 2, 2024. Murphy was re-elected for his third two-year term as mayor.
The November 2023 election brought two fresh faces to the council. Jessica Gronau began her first term as the Ward 2 council person and Kathy Dearchs began her role as a council person at large.
ALGONA The Algona City Council appointed Kathy Dearchs to the Third Ward Council position at its meeting on Sept. 5, 2023. Dearchs took her oath of office on Sept. 18 before participating in her first meeting as a council member.
