Des Moines Performing Arts still isn t ready to resume in-person performances, but it is preparing to provide another kind of direct experience: camps for young actors.
DMPA will offer three summer opportunities for various age groups, based on students grade level in fall 2021. For grades three through eight, there s a Let s Put on a Show musical theater camp; a Broadway Academy for grades six through eight; and a Broadway summer intensive program for grades nine through 12 and college freshmen.
The camps, previously held at the Temple Theater, will move to the more spacious Civic Center downtown, with COVID-19 safety precautions in place.
