Ohio reported 1,921 new COVID-19 cases and 36 deaths on Monday – both lower than averages over the past week and past three weeks. Numbers reported to the Ohio Department of Health tend to be lower on Mondays, but both new cases and current hospitalizations have been trending downward for weeks.  That continued Monday, with an estimated 2,012 COVID-19 patients receiving care in Ohio hospitals, including 521 in intensive care. That s below the seven-day moving average of 2,259 and 61% below the number hospitalized two months ago. Monday marked the seventh consecutive day with fewer than 2,500 COVID-19 patients in hospital b eds. If that trend holds, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine could eliminate an overnight curfew that s largely been in place since Nov. 19. The curfew was rolled back one hour on Jan. 27 to 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

DeWine has warned that the state won t receive enough COVID-19 doses to vaccinate every teacher starting Monday. It’s tough for her – and for many of us – to differentiate between texts and emails, Facebook posts and reputable news stories and scammers and trustworthy sources. This has made for a fair amount of family jokes – but this week, I think we all realized how serious this technology divide really is.
