Matilda Marcus â24 was almost at a loss when describing Datamatch to her friends.
âItâs kind of like Tinder, but only your college, and thereâs a survey,â she said.
They didnât really understand.
Datamatch â a free matchmaking service run by Harvard students â boasted sign ups from more than half of Harvardâs undergraduate population this year.
After filling out a survey and profile, participants can be matched with other students to meet up in person or go on a virtual Zoom date. The program partnered with restaurants near certain college campuses â like Playa Bowls and Black Sheep Bagel Cafe in Harvard Square â to offer students free food on their dates.
Harvard undergraduates residing on campus said they were surprised and excited after the Dean of Students Office announced the College would move into âLevel 3: Yellowâ of its campus reopening plan Monday.
In December, the College announced a color-coded system to indicate the different phases of campus reopening amid the coronavirus pandemic, with the most restrictive campus guidelines occurring under âLevel 0: Purpleâ and the least restrictive under âLevel 5: Green.â
In Level Three, students can reserve slots for individual use at common spaces, such as the Smith Campus Center, Memorial Hall, Malkin Athletic Center, and the Student Organization Center at Hilles. In addition, each student can host another on-campus student in their suite and will be allowed to travel within a 10-mile radius of campus.
