HEATHSVILLE Following a public hearing, the Lancaster school board on March 9 unanimously, 5-0, approved a proposed fiscal year 2021-22 operating budget for consideration by the board of supervisors.
School board members Katherine Keith of District 1, Kenya Moody of District 2, Cindy Clarke of District 3, Joan Gravatt of District 4 and Carolyn Young of District 5, all voted in favor of the measure.
According to superintendent Dan Russell, the budget was amended slightly from what was presented at the February 25 joint budget workshop held with the supervisors. “We’re expecting more funds from the state and are now asking for level funding from the county” compared to last year, said Russell.
