notment not. congress should pass this bipartisan plan right away, and i will sign it right away. more than one million americans across the country will feel a little hope right away. and hope is contagious. you know, when [applause] you know, when katherine has a little bit more confidence about her situation when she finds a job, she s going to be able to help somebody down the line maybe who s also down on their luck. you know, when congress passes a bipartisan effort starting here right at the beginning of the new year, who knows? we might actually get some things done this year. [laughter] you know, so after all the hard work and sacrifice of the past five years to recover and rebuild from the crisis, what i think the american people are really looking for in 2014 is
0 passengers, some from san francisco and los angeles stranded on several trains overnight because trains hitting a big snow drift. most of the passengers have now been bussed to safety in chicago. they are telling stories of being okay through the night, of course there was nothing anybody could do. the staff were doing everything they could to make people comfortable with food and water and so forth. it s still bone chilling and awful extreme cold. people are staying inside. the governor has warned and suggested that people go outside if things if you absolutely have to do something. there s still tlas delays at the airport and at o hare, the main airport in chicago, hundreds of flights canceled again after thousands over the past couple of days. we re still in a deep freeze here. it s going to take a few days to thaw out. we ll hopefully get into the single digits today and double digits tomorrow and the end of the week there s a promise of 35 degree weather. believe it or not. we
thanks for watching the ed show here on msnbc. we ve got six republicans, six good quality americans, who have decided to actually associate with democrats. now for every story, for every vote, for every action, reaction, there s always the next story in politics. these six senators voted procedurally with the democrats today when it comes to unemployment benefits, the extension of it. is this the only thing that they can vote with the democrats on? i think that this is possibly an opportunity for the democrats to go out and say, you voted with us on unemployment extensions. why can t you do the deal with us on a job s package? how about in ohio? mr. portman, you mean to tell me there would be some political downfall if you were to vote for a job s package or an infrastructure package in the state of ohio? come on. all i m trying to tell you, folks, is i think there s a heck of a lot more where they came from today. we start with good news this evening. 1.3 million american
it doesn t appear at in this point at this point, our experts on capitol hill are saying, that the senate has the votes to get this cloture vote passed. if they don t, it appears this unemployment benefits bill is going to die there. but anything can happen in the senate. they re in the middle of the vote now. we ll keep an eye on it throughout the hour, let you know what happens. jenna: in the meantime, dangerous cold breaking decades-old records. forecasters saying some 187 million people could feel the effects of the eau lahr very six polar vortex as it spreads across the country. the tedly subzero deadly subzero temperatures moving into the east coast and into the south as well. take a look at what the arctic air did to this fountain in greensboro, north carolina. it is dangerous to be outside. when the cold can do that. wind shill warnings are stretching as far south as florida. as you can see there, the deep freeze disrupting thousands of flights, halting train se
