A non-profit organisation are hoping to level up opportunities in the arts industry with their new studio space. Whistling Crew Production CIC’s new studio space on Blackfriars Street will offer a space for artists, from photographers to painters and performance artists, to develop their work. The studio space is currently open for bookings for June 21 onwards, depending on the Governments stance on the current roadmap out of lockdown at the time. Head of Operations, Katharine Simmons, said it was partly her own life experience that inspired her and her colleagues, Jack Ibbotson and Scott Wigglesworth, to come up with the idea of a studio space for aspiring artists in the area.

Katharine Simmons, 26, manages a bar in Carlisle. She has been on furlough but the owners have made a decision to close for good. Simmons is “absolutely devastated”.
