[applause] i am delighted to be here. My book is about the women in uniform about the nazis. And with the outbreak of war and captures september 1944. And the friend of gerties daughter. But one of them is that when she was captured and then to be informed by the military that his wife was a prisoner of war the first two words were poor germans. [laughter] and it is a character study for me. And that is the philosophy that goes up to tragedy so looking at the background and then to lead up to the service of world war ii and capture. This is the first one from the America First committee, which alist, andntervention lis some would say isolationist. Here, we will take a look at these two and go back. These are from the committee to defend america and to aid the allies. Everything im going to say about the relief efforts are in the context of the battle over intervention and antiintervention. I dont think America First has received the attention it deserves. The justice has done some good work on it. It is usually written off as right wing isolationist organization, but it is a key factor in the antiwar movement, along with hoover, who did not belong to America First committee, the quakers, the pacifists, people who were upset about world war i.
