Adel, Georgia – Following the shooting of Adel Officer Katelynne Nitschke early Saturday morning, there has been a massive outreach online to pray for her recovery. Law Officer previously covered the incident that began at 2 a.m. Saturday morning when officers responded to a call of a stolen car. When officers arrived, they were met with gunfire by 31-year-old Steve Newsome.
Newsome was killed in the exchange of gunfire but Officer Nitschke was reportedly shot multiple times.
Nitschke has been with the Adel Police Department for a year. She was rushed to the hospital where she remains in stable condition.
