GambleAware partners with Expert Link to launch ALERTS network Share
‘ALERTS’ network.
GambleAware has provided funding for, ALERTS – which is an acronym for ‘Affected Lived Experience Research, Treatment and Support Group’ – for 18 months. The group will consist of people with lived experience of gambling harm.
The charity’s stated ambition is that the group will be ‘sustainable and completely independent, including identifying and applying for its own funding sources in the longer term.’
Additionally, the network will focus on equality, diversity and inclusion, with membership drawn from across the lived experience community, including those who are part of marginalised or underrepresented groups.
John McCracken departs from GambleAware after three years Share

GambleAware’s John McCracken has announced that he will be leaving the charity after serving as Director of Commissioning (Treatment Services) for three years.
McCracken led the early development of the
National Gambling Treatment Service and worked closely with the NHS on problem gambling related issues throughout England, Scotland and Wales.
Furthermore, McCracken was heavily involved in the implementation of the charity’s data reporting system used to inform the development of best practice and outstanding care for those experiencing gambling harm throughout Great Britain.
He originally took the post in April 2018, having previously worked as Head of Drugs Policy for the Department of Health, as well as holding the position of Head of Child and Adolescent Mental Health earlier on in his departmental career.
GambleAware appoints Zoë Osmond as CEO

Gambling awareness charity GambleAware has appointed its communications and engagement director, Zoë Osmond, to the position of chief executive, replacing Marc Etches in the position.
The charity said Osmond brings a “wealth of knowledge” to the role and added that she has a strong track record of driving business growth across the charity and in the wider business world having previously held chief executive, managing partner and global business director roles.
Since 2018, Osmond has led the delivery of GambleAware’s safer gambling and treatment campaigns, and has worked with stakeholders in public health, government, media, academia and the industry to ensure campaign success.
GambleAware appoints ‘proven talent’ Zoë Osmond as new CEO Share
Zoë Osmond will be promoted as new CEO of the gambling harm-prevention charity.
Osmond, who currently serves as GambleAware’s Communications and Engagement Director, will replace incumbent
Marc Etches, whose tenure as CEO finishes in March.
GambleAware highlighted Osmond’s outstanding results in spearheading the charity’s multi-million pound safer gambling and treatment campaigns, expanding the charity’s support network across the UK.
Furthermore, Osmond was branded as the optimal candidate to lead GambleAware having successfully promoted the treatment and behavioural complexities of problem gambling to government, media, academia and wider business stakeholders.
GambleAware, the UK’s commissioning charity for gambling harm prevention, treatment support and research, has relaunched its
begambleaware.org website.
The charity has chosen to merge the content of its corporate website
about.begambleaware.org with its public-facing domain begambleaware.org, thereby developing a central hub for all users and partners.
“By combining the content on one site we hope to make it easier for all stakeholders and beneficiaries to access the information they need,” read the charity’s statement.
Whilst the new website has been pushed live this Christmas, GambleAware will aim to formally launch its begambleaware.org portal in January. The revamped site will be updated with all technical and interactive provisions to optimise the user journey.
